Cowen Names 2021 Employees of the Year

Cowen Truck Line has awarded two employees with the 2021 Employee of the Year award.

Marianne C. has been with Cowen Truck Line for 24 years. According to Wayne, she has taken on additional duties in driver dispatch, rates, and customer service. In addition, she has handled dual responsibilities in Logistics and Truck Line and has also taken on a training/recruiting role in operations. Marianne has taken on duties and generated ideas that have had a positive effect on safety, customer service, operational costs, and increased efficiencies. She has become skilled at negotiating rates with customers daily to meet transportation needs and improve overall revenue.  

Marianne has proven herself to be a great communicator with customers and drivers by staying in close contact and demonstrating a sense of urgency in meeting their needs. She has been willing to work outside her area of responsibility to help Cowen Truck Line meet service and safety goals. 

Our second Employee of the Year has been with Cowen Truck Line for nearly three years. Helen describes SuZanne M. as focused, accurate and timely in completing the duties of her position. SuZanne loves information and learning new things. She actively seeks out new training opportunities and ways to improve systems at Cowen Truck Line. SuZanne is willing to work outside areas of her responsibility to help Cowen Truck Line meet service and safety goals. As a member of the Safety Committee, she took on the enormous task of parts inventory in the shop to improve use and compliance with our e-maintenance program.

SuZanne never stops learning. According to Helen she is a “commander” of PeopleNet! Her work exemplifies Cowen values in people development. She fearlessly trained 60 drivers on PeopleNet device upgrades and is starting the training on Workflow. Known affectionately as the “logs lady,” this Employee of the Year maintains a positive and cheerful disposition when interacting with other employees, even the “toughies!” Helen describes this employee’s work habits as a role model for others. She would like three more of her!
